Artwork and design of all genres has been my passion my entire life. My mother always said that I drew Volkswagens at 18 months old and everyone could tell that they were VWs.
My family moved quite a bit and eventually settled in Greenville, Ohio. That’s where I began to get serious about automotive art. I attended Gem City College where I learned engraving, watchmaking and gem cutting. Upon moving back to Greenville I was asked to do a series of large 4’ x 8’ paintings of various models of cars and motorcycles for a local bar that has now become a popular restaurant.
Since that time I have done primarily commission work of cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. I have also done interior artwork and murals for business, residences, and churches. Book illustrations, cartoon work, 1950’s style pin ups, theater set design and signage are included in my portfolio.
In addition to my artwork, I have sung and played music (acoustic guitar, upright bass and ukulele) and performed my entire life. My first gig was playing in a jazz trio at the age of 14. (Didn't do much for my academic career, but I was in my element!) I currently play in a band called Tom, Dick, and Hairy Joseph, performing a mix of old country, folk, folk rock and bluegrass (with a touch of jazz!) at private parties, festivals, and small theaters.
I have always had a passion (some call it an obsession) for restoring older classic automobiles, motorcycles, and boats. I'm currently in business with Jeff Porada, owner of D.E.B., specializing in classic auto restoration as well as Winner's Circle, a parts warehouse for Austin Healey Sprites and MG Midgets.
Having the opportunity to paint numerous cars, motorcycles, and airplanes as well as musicians and musical instruments has provided an avenue to visually tie together a multitude of interests.
